Data Deletion
You can delete your Altair account and the data attached to it at any time, from inside the app. Here is exactly what happens when you do.
How to request deletion
- Sign in to Altair and open Settings.
- Choose Delete account and confirm. You'll need to be signed in — this can't be requested from outside the app, so nobody else can delete your account on your behalf.
If you no longer have the app installed, you can reinstall it, sign back in, and request deletion the same way — signing in does not undo anything and does not start any new commitment.
What happens immediately
Any documents you've uploaded (passports, confirmations, other files) are deleted from storage straight away, as part of submitting the request — they don't wait for the grace period below.
The 30-day grace period
Requesting deletion starts a 30-day countdown, not an instant delete. This exists so a change of mind, or an accidental tap, doesn't cost you your account.
Changed your mind? Simply sign back in at any point during the 30 days. That cancels the deletion request automatically — nothing else needs to happen, and nothing is lost.
What's removed after 30 days
If the request is still active after 30 days, a scheduled job permanently removes everything that identifies you: your name, and any travellers' passport and medical details you added. Uploaded documents are already gone from the immediate step above.
What's kept, and why
Trip and booking records themselves are kept, but anonymised rather than deleted — with your identifying details stripped out. This is so refunds, disputes, and financial receipts tied to real transactions remain resolvable after your account closes, for you or anyone you shared a trip with. Nothing kept can be traced back to you once anonymisation runs.
Other ways to control your data before deleting
You don't have to delete your whole account to remove something. You can delete individual trips or bookings yourself at any time from within the app, and unpublish a shared brochure link instantly if you no longer want it public.
